Le Loquidy in a few words

Since 1926, Loquidy, a private Catholic school under contract with the state, has been an established institution in Nantes.
Located on a beautiful 8-hectare campus in the city center, near the university and easily accessible by public transport, it serves students from elementary through preparatory school.
Loquidy’s vibrant campus is home to nearly 2,100 students: 1,000 in middle school, 1,000 in high school, and 100 in preparatory programs. The school consistently achieves excellent results on national exams, boasting a 100% pass rate for both the Baccalaureate and the “Brevet des collèges.”
Our modern facilities include two buildings with classrooms equipped with the latest multimedia technology, dedicated student spaces for middle and high schoolers, a library and media center, computer labs, a cafeteria and restaurant, an amphitheater, two gyms, an arts center, a chapel, and a synthetic sports field.
Loquidy is a designated Erasmus+ school, offering a wide range of international exchange programs and cultural trips in partnership with schools abroad. We also participate in the Academica Dual Diploma program and offer language certifications such as Cambridge, TOEIC, and TOEFL.

Academics in middle school
In middle school, in addition to the traditional academic curriculum, we offer a personalized approach to learning with:
- a wide range of language options in English, German, Korean, Spanish, Latin, Greek, and Italian,
- numerous sports options: rowing, cricket, fencing, ice hockey, rugby,
- science workshops: “Eureka” workshop, nature, computer science,
- art workshops: circus, chess, dance, drawing, choir, theater,
- academic support: tutoring, supervised and directed study, specific student follow-up,
- numerous civic and prevention actions: first aid training, healthy eating, code of conduct, as well as many educational projects.

The Loquidy Middle School, in a stimulating environment, offers each student personalized support, innovative teaching, and a variety of workshops and options to help them progress and discover their path.
Learning at High School
In high school, in addition to the mandatory courses, numerous options are offered:
- Modern foreign languages: Italian, Korean, Japanese, Chinese
- European section in English for subjects: History-Geography, Physics, Mathematics, Life and Earth Sciences
- Classical languages: Greek and Latin
- Opportunities to earn language certifications.
- Theater and communication workshop

In their junior and senior years, students can choose from 11 specialized tracks in areas like languages, sciences, history and geopolitics, mathematics, social sciences, and digital technology. A variety of optional and supplemental courses are also available, such as advanced math, and law and major contemporary issues.
The high school encourages international experiences and supports a range of cultural and athletic programs. Students also benefit from a convenient on-site boarding facility and a vibrant student union.

The Loquidy High School supports each student in building their academic path, offering a diverse education, personalized guidance, and international exchanges to ensure success in their journey towards higher education.
Teaching in the Preparatory Classes
Loquidy’s preparatory program offers four distinct tracks, focusing on economics, sociology, social sciences, mathematics, and philosophy. This rigorous two-year program is designed to prepare students for the competitive entrance exams required by France’s prestigious Grandes Écoles.
These preparatory classes are ideal for students who have recently earned their Baccalaureate and aspire to attend a top business or management school. We are dedicated to providing comprehensive support for each student, including:
- Dedicated teachers,
- Weekly tutorials,
- Mock exams,
- Internships,
- Conferences,
- Team-building retreats,
- Interview simulations, etc.
Our preparatory program students enjoy a dedicated floor with computer labs, a specialized resource center, a cafeteria, an amphitheater, and even a rooftop terrace.
Since 2014, Loquidy’s preparatory program has been a proud member of the “Campus La Salle” network, joining nearly 100 institutions within the larger La Salle system that offer higher education opportunities, from engineering degrees and BTS programs to other preparatory courses.

Founded in 1926, Saint-Joseph du Loquidy • La Salle has been under contract with the State since 1966. As such, it operates under the French Ministry of Education, playing a vital role in the public education of today’s young people.
Established by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, Saint-Joseph du Loquidy – La Salle is a Catholic school within the international La Salle network.
Grounded in the educational philosophy of St. John Baptist de la Salle, the school operates under Lasallian leadership, drawing on the spiritual values of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and working in close partnership with the Diocese of Nantes.
Saint-Joseph du Loquidy • La Salle is a Catholic institution dedicated to nurturing not only intellectual and cultural growth but also an openness to spiritual development.

Our Global Reach
The Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools has a global presence, with 3,000 Brothers serving in 80 countries.
Supported by 90,000 lay colleagues, the Institute educates nearly a million students of all ages, from kindergarten through university, in over a thousand Lasallian educational centers worldwide. These include schools, vocational centers, universities, and even educational radio programs.

Pastoral Care & Values
In keeping with the Lasallian educational philosophy, Saint-Joseph du Loquidy • La Salle warmly welcomes students of all backgrounds and beliefs. We offer a variety of opportunities for students to explore their faith, through understanding, belief, celebration, and service.
Pastoral care at Loquidy is provided by a dedicated team, including the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the school leadership, a local priest from the Saints-Evêques de Nantes parish, a pastoral team, and over 100 volunteer catechists.
Key aspects of our pastoral program include :
Key moments in Pastoral Care : A catechism and human formation program integrated into the schedule from sixth grade to 11th grade
- A comprehensive catechesis and human development program integrated into the curriculum from sixth through eleventh grade.
- Small group discussions and reflections, providing a supportive environment for students to explore their Christian faith.
- Sacramental preparation for baptism, communion, and confirmation, offered during middle school.
- Special events throughout the year, such as a back-to-school Mass, Advent observances, the Good Friday Way of the Cross, and the Feast of St. John Baptist de la Salle.
- Numerous service projects in partnership with local Nantes charities and the broader La Salle network.

A sustainable Campus
Loquidy is deeply committed to sustainability. From 2021 to 2027, we are proud to be the first private school in the Pays de la Loire region to receive the E3D label from the French Ministry of Education. This award recognizes our longstanding commitment to student-led sustainability initiatives.

As a designated “International” and “Erasmus+” school, Saint-Joseph du Loquidy • La Salle is committed to meeting the diverse language learning needs of all students. We offer a wide range of opportunities, including:
- A broad selection of languages: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese.
- Workshops and optional courses taught in English.
- A “European Section” with instruction in English starting in middle school (5th grade).
- Language exchange programs and cultural trips for middle and high school students, in partnership with schools in Germany, England, Denmark, South Korea, Spain, the United States, Italy, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.
- Immersion programs abroad.
- Opportunities to earn language certifications, such as Cambridge, TOEFL, and TOEIC.
- Foreign language assistants who work with our students.
- Conversation groups in English for bilingual students.
Sports and activities
At Loquidy, we believe that sports play a vital role in a well-rounded education. Middle school students can choose from a wide variety of sports options, including rowing, cricket, fencing, ice hockey, and rugby. Beyond the curriculum, the Loquidy Sports Association offers even more choices throughout the year, such as dance, futsal, gymnastics, handball, table tennis, and volleyball.
For nearly a century, sports have been a tradition at Loquidy, and our students have a strong record of success. In recent years, they’ve earned over 30 French national championships in sports ranging from rowing and gymnastics to rugby and, most recently, fencing.
Community and Engagement
Loquidy students are actively engaged in making a positive impact on the world around them, regularly participating in various solidarity initiatives both locally and globally.
Each year, the school organizes a number of service projects, including a peer tutoring program where high school students mentor younger students in middle school (grades 9 and 10).
For over 15 years, Loquidy has partnered with national charities like Restos du Coeur, Secours Populaire Français, and the French Food Bank, as well as local Nantes organizations, to collect donations. Our community has generously contributed several tons of essential goods.
We also support international efforts through the La Salle network. For more than a decade, our “rice bowl” campaigns have raised over €50,000 for schools and other Lasallian programs in Haiti and Lebanon.
And since 2025, Loquidy has been part of the SEMIL project (Educational Service of the International Lasallian Missions), which prepares students to participate in international service trips to Lasallian schools and communities in need.
